Buckhurst Hill is 3 miles from The Spinney Care Home and the drive should take around 10 minutes. As our care home is such a short distance away, it is an ideal choice for families looking for residential care near Buckhurst Hill.

To get to The Spinney from Buckhurst Hill: take King’s Avenue to Palmerston Road (B170) and follow on to Church Road. Take the A1069 to Connaught Avenue, following this road onto the Drive and Forest View where you will find The Spinney Care Home.


Chigwell is a small civil parish in Epping Forest around 11 miles from London, and 5.2 miles from The Spinney Care Home. Much of the ‘old Chigwell’ is designated as a conservation area, as the parish borders Epping Forest, it’s a beautiful green area with pretty scenic views.

Chigwell is just over 5 miles from The Spinney and the drive should take around 15 minutes if there is no traffic. Leave Chigwell on the A113 and take the Epping New Road on to Connaught Avenue. Follow Connaught Avenue onto the Drive and Forest View where you will find The Spinney.


Thanks to the Epping New Road, the commute between Epping town and The Spinney Care Home is an easy drive taking less than 20 minutes, making it the perfect choice for those seeking day care in the Epping area.

The weekly Epping market (which is on Mondays) brings in many shoppers from surrounding towns and villages, if you are visiting The Spinney for the day, why not take your relative over to the market for some shopping? Epping is also the start of the ‘Essex Way’, a long distance walking path that runs from Epping to Harwich. You could even walk a little stretch of the path on a visit to Epping.

To drive to The Spinney from Epping head south-east on St Johns Road towards Bakers Lane and continue on the B1393 and the Epping New Road all the way to Connaught Avenue. From here follow onto the Driver and Forest View where you will find our care home.

Highams Park

Highams Park is in the London Borough of Waltham Forest in North East London. Situated just 2.5 miles from The Spinney, we’re ideally placed to offer effective dementia care in the Waltham Forest area. Probably the most well-known part of Highams Park is the ‘Park’, which is a popular green area with a pretty lake that has an island inhabited by swans. The park is popular with walkers and dog walkers and is a pleasant place to spend an afternoon if you are visiting Highams Park for the day.

To drive to The Spinney from Highams Park take Jacks Farm Way and Hickman Ave to Larkshall Rd/B160. Continue on Larkshall Rd/B160 to Buxton Rd and then take the Drive onto Forest View where you will find our care home.


Leyton in east London is just 6.3 miles from The Spinney; the drive can take around 20 minutes if the traffic is heavy, but it is a very commutable distance from our care home and is ideally located if you’re looking for insightful dementia care in the Waltham Forest Borough.

To drive to The Spinney, leave Leyton via the A1006 and take the A104/A110 into Forest Side. From here turn left onto the A1069. Follow Connaught Avenue onto the Drive and Forest View where you will find the Spinney Care Home.


Loughton is just under 6 miles from The Spinney and the drive should take under 15 minutes. We welcome residents from Loughton and the surrounding Epping Forest area for our high quality care services. Loughton is a very popular area to buy property in the Epping Forest area; this may be because it retains so much of its historic charm. Loughton has three conservation areas and over 50 listed buildings, and a further 50 that are locally listed.

Theydon Bois

Theydon Bois is a large village in the Epping Forest area of Essex. The pretty village is at the edge of the beautiful Epping Forest and is bordered by farmland. The village has actually won ‘Best Kept Village’ three times in recent years. Theydon Bois is served by the London Underground on the Central Line but still maintains a countryside charm.

To get to The Spinney Care Home from Theydon Bois: follow the Epping New Road all the way to Connaught Avenue onto the Drive and then onto Forest view where you will find The Spinney.


Walthamstow is a town in northeast London, historically Walthamstow was part of Essex but due to growth in population and suburban growth it became part of Greater London in the sixties. Walthamstow is bordered by Chingford, where you will find The Spinney Care Home.

Walthamstow is home to the longest street market in Europe. Dating back to 1885, Walthamstow market offers a wide range of food, clothing, and household goods and is a great way to spend a day out if you are visiting the town with a relative residing at The Spinney.

The Spinney is 4.2 miles from Walthamstow. The number 97 bus serves the area and takes around half an hour, or you can drive which takes around 20 minutes but can be much less if the traffic is light.


Woodford in northeast London comprises the neighbourhoods of Woodford Green, Woodford Bridge and South Woodford. If you are visiting for the day, we recommend taking in the pretty forests, lakes and country parks surrounding Woodford Green, it’s a lovely place to enjoy the great outdoors and a pleasant place for a short walk or a picnic.

To get to The Spinney from Woodford: leave Woodford via Chingford Lane and take Friday Hill/B146 to Buxton Road. From here take The Drive onto Forest View where you’ll find our care home.
